EDSO4SG and ELECTRA Workshop, Paris, 21st September 2016
ELECTRA consults DSO representatives to receive feedback on present and prioritize future project activities
Paris September 21st, 2016
On 21st September 2016 a joint meeting between a delegation of the ELECTRA consortium and the project committee of the association EDSO for Smart Grids (EDSO4SG) was held in Paris, with the aim of presenting the results achieved so far and to get the DSOs indication of the topics to focus on in the future activities of ELECTRA.
EDSO4SG gathers 34 leading European distribution system operators (DSOs) for electricity, cooperating to ensure the reliability of Europe's electricity supply for consumers and enabling their active participation in our energy system. EDSO is the key interface between Europe's DSOs and the European institutions, promoting the development and large- scale testing of smart grid models and technologies in real-life situations, new market design.
During the meeting Graeme Burt (University of Strathclyde), Chris Caerts (VITO) and Ilaria Losa (RSE), presented the structure of ELECTRA, the innovative Web-of-cells concept developed within the ELECTRA project and the control schemes based on such a concept, designed to manage the 2030+ European electricity system.
During the presentation the members of EDSO4SG were called to answer in real time to questions elaborated by ELECTRA related to the Web-of-Cells concept itself, as well as concerning the selection of use cases that will be simulated and tested in laboratories.
The results of this consultation will enable the Consortium to guide future activities, on the basis of operational needs expressed by the network operators.
Finally ELECTRA team and EDSO4SG project committee agreed on organizing a webinar to continue the discussions undertaken during the workshop.
