Institute of Physical Energetics
The Institute of Physical Energetics (IPE) is the leading institute in Latvia in the field of Smart Grid research. Its main activities cover a wide scope of energy research issues, including power system modelling, dynamic optimization methods, decision methods under information uncertainty in liberalized conditions, research and practical implementation of software systems for dynamic optimization of smart grids and system development.
IPE has very wide national and international cooperation, and participates in many national and international cooperation projects, including the FP5, FP6 and FP7, IEE, Interreg, EC JRC, IAEA and others. From 2011 IPE is involved in EERA Joint Programme on Smart Grids.
IPE's Role in ELECTRA IRP: Analysis and modelling the impact of technological development and innovation on the electricity network and its dynamic development, with focus on Electricity Market issues. It will facilitate resource-efficient technology solutions to decarbonise the energy system in a sustainable way, secure energy supply and complete integration of the internal electricity market.
